We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Technical Weaving team at Heathcoat Fabrics as a Gaiter.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and would like to develop their skills within a specialist textile manufacturing environment.

The Role

Gaiters play an important role in supporting our weaving operations by ensuring looms are correctly prepared and ready for production. Working as part of a skilled and supportive team, you will prepare, maintain and organise loom set-ups so production runs efficiently and safely.

Typical duties include:

  • Preparing looms ready for tie-in operations

  • Fitting tie warps into the loom

  • Stripping looms in preparation for gaiting

  • Fitting gaits into looms

  • Cutting out warps when they are no longer required

  • Removing warp waste from machines

  • Weighing and recording production information

  • Cleaning and maintaining looms when required

This role requires careful attention to detail and the ability to work methodically to ensure looms are ready for production.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Good manual dexterity

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Good planning and organisational skills

  • Ability to work independently and use initiative

  • Awareness of Health & Safety requirements within a manufacturing environment

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience working in a textile or manufacturing environment

  • Mechanical aptitude or experience setting up machinery

  • Previous experience using manual handling equipment
