We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager within our technical development department.

 

    Mon-Fri 8.30am-5.00pm

  £35,000-£45,000 per year

About the department and the Technical Manager’s role

Our Technical Department is responsible for all product and process development, optimisation and product compliance.

The Technical Manager heavily contributes towards the development and delivery of our Woven Industrial business unit’s strategy. As Technical Manager, you will work with the technical team to generate creative solutions that meet the requirements of new products, and also ensure the performance of existing fabrics are consistently met to a high standard.

You and your team will work with sales teams, customers, suppliers and industry centres of excellence in order to identify opportunities for new product developments and manage them from trial stages to production release, utilising the department’s new product development process.

Ensuring quality standards are achieved and continuously improved is a key aspect of the role, along with effective communication between teams, controlled management of change, and problem-solving.

Other areas of responsibility include ensuring quality, health & safety and environment policies are adhered to, the skills and performance of your team are developed, and employment practices are followed.

Skills, knowledge and experience required

  • Degree or equivalent level of education, preferably in Textiles or Science
  • A proven track record in textile design and manufacture in which you will have gained experience in commercial and strategic decision making
  • Experience using scientific methodology
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Organisational and project management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Programmes – especially Excel
  • Good problem-solving ability
  • Full driving license
  • Able to travel outside the UK
  • Able to work on own initiative
