An exciting opportunity has come available for individuals to join a 2-year Apprenticeship at Heathcoat Fabrics Ltd, where you will be working towards a Level 3 Laboratory Technician qualification.

The successful candidate will take part in ongoing training courses, whilst tackling real challenges and working towards taking on genuine responsibility. You will need to be a great team player and communicator and be motivated to get results. With a positive mindset, you will gain a professional qualification as well as excellent on-the-job experience.

What are we looking for?

A minimum of GCSEs Grade 4 or above (or equivalent) in English, plus either Math or Science

  • A demonstrable interest in laboratory work
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • The ongoing desire to learn
  • Willing and able to travel to Petroc College, Barnstaple for day release

What are the successful candidates’ key responsibilities?

  • Supporting the Laboratory Technician to design dyes that meet Customer requirements
  • Learning how to test for fabric changes due to different dyestuff and chemical applications
  • Learning how to maintain accurate records of all laboratory work
  • Learning about COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations)

On successful completion of the Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship, you will have demonstrated the ability to take ownership and accountability for providing routine testing and technical support in a scientific laboratory environment within the Textiles Industry. You will also have gained the relevant soft skills and behaviours that allow you to provide basic technical coaching to others.
