    6 am to 2 pm – Monday to Friday



An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Catering Assistant, to join a dedicated catering team.  You will be required to deliver a high-quality service to our customers through the creation, presentation and delivery of meals, the successful candidate will support the provision of the catering operation, assisting with basic food preparation and hygiene.

Key duties include…

Assist with preparation of food in line with HACCP; serve customers, operating the till and handling cash; plating up food, ensuring correct portion control; wash up; ensure kitchen hygiene standards are maintained at all times to the levels required by the manager and in line with food and hygiene standards; assist with deliveries and storage of stock, stock control and stock taking.

Keep to a high standard of cleanliness in the department, always complying with the Environmental Health Regulations. Clear tables and ensure the preparation room, canteen areas and any other areas relevant to the catering team are clean and tidy. Provide a happy, warm, friendly and helpful attitude to customers. Ensure high levels of personal hygiene are always kept to. Assist with in-house catering functions. Help with any cleaning duties during quiet times.

The ideal candidate will have an interest in food and catering, be organised and methodical and have excellent customer service skills.  If you are successful in being invited to an interview, you will be required to prepare and cook a meal along with a small buffet to demonstrate your catering skills.

Skills, knowledge and experience required

  • Previous experience working in catering with knowledge of basic food preparation and food service procedure and equipment
  • Level 2 award in food safety
  • Experience in using a PC for basic tasks
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team as well as on own initiative

The following is desirable

  • Experience in following safe working procedures and an understanding of safe manual handling procedure, particularly hot liquids
