We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager / Sales Manager to join our market-leading Synchrotec business unit.

Introducing the department

As the market leader in fabrics for timing-belt applications, our dedicated specialist team make Heathcoat Fabrics’ Synchrotec products and service a step above competitors. Our deep knowledge of belting applications has allowed us to create fabrics for next-generation timing belts, green urban mobility solutions, belt-in-oil applications and high-performance accessory drive belts. Our markets include any application where an engineered stretch fabric is required.

As a Business Development Manager, working as part of the wider sales team within the Synchrotec business unit, you will be ensuring sustainable commercial growth by maximising profitable sales, targeting and achieving new business, and providing world-class customer account management.

The role is fully supported by a globally respected technical development team and vertically integrated manufacturing facility.

Examples of our expectations within this role

  • To effectively manage existing accounts, successfully increasing profit margins and growing business opportunities.
  • Accountable for actively seeking new business.
  • Maintain frequent contact with customers, organise customer visits (globally) and submit detailed visit reports to the Business Manager and colleagues for review.
  • Attend targeted exhibitions and conferences to consider relevant opportunities to develop sales in existing and new markets in line with business strategies.
  • Responsible for ensuring that customers are continually informed regarding new product information, & market launches etc.
  • Produce sales reports and collect KPI data for management.
  • Respond effectively to any customer grievances to achieve a satisfactory resolution.

Essential Skills and Experience 

  • Previous experience in a sales/business development role
  • Experience in textiles and or material sciences
  • Proven experience of successful customer relationship management
  • Proven ability to liaise across the business from suppliers, manufacturing and customers
  • A flexible and logical approach
  • Accurate numeracy, literacy & computer skills with the ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • A desire for self-development and taking a pivotal role in the business
  • Understanding of 5s lean manufacturing principles
