Tensions were running high as launch day had finally arrived. 62 eager Tiverton High School students were about to find out which of their rockets was going to win the 2018 Heathcoat Challenge. Having completed a factory tour filled with presentations across various departments in early February; the students were invited by Managing Director, Cameron Harvie to create an eye-catching and fully functional rocket using specific household materials and Heathcoat fabrics.

Students were given class time to research trajectory patterns, appropriate styles and do their best to create the winning rocket. The students were buzzing with anticipation as each group got up to experience the thrill of watching their rockets travel up to speeds of 70mph. The winning team recorded an impressive distance of 107m. It was a fantastic opportunity to share with our local students how our business operates and also get involved with exciting class projects.
